Hi, I’m Cath!
I am an accomplished activation strategist, leveraging my expertise as the principal of a management consultancy specialising in place management strategy and activation.
I have worked from the coalface to the C-suite. I understand the passion, engagement and spark needed to create a dynamic mix between people and places – plus, the strategy essential to success.
I was formerly the Activation Strategist for Darling Harbour – charged with ensuring the 60-hectare tourism precinct continued to thrive and prosper during the redevelopment of the entertainment and exhibition centres. I also worked across The Rocks and was embedded in the team that helped bring to life The Goods Line on the western edge of Sydney’s CBD.
I had previously run my own business – Ecco Productions – for 10 years. I have over 25 years’ experience in the events industry across retail, fashion, food & beverage, corporate events, national conferences and government, the arts & community sectors, producing strategic activation from intimate and granular to large-scale festivals in the public domain.
The cumulative experience brought to the fore my passion for contribution to place making via activation – plus a desire to implement successful engagement where people and communities benefit from a positive collective experience.
I understand the ingredients to make places thrive with vitality by way of visitor and consumer participation and engaging public and private stakeholders and how they contribute to creating a meaningful place.
What I do:
As a Place Activator, I bring public and private spaces to life, by developing and executing the strategies needed to make them work.
My work covers:
- Creating strategies and governance models for public and private spaces that currently lack a sense of direction or purpose
- Knitting together the economic, cultural and social element of places
- Designing permanent and temporary features that enliven places
- Harnessing stakeholders along the way to give a shared sense of ownership to places
- Facilitation to inspire and guide discussion around initiatives that contribute value to how we work and live
